Had an enlightening experience post our spring meeting with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Science Department Advisory Board! We embarked on a fascinating tour of the Nyrstar Zinc Milling Facility near Knoxville, TN. Witnessing firsthand the intricate process of extracting zinc from rock was truly eye-opening. A big shoutout to Christopher Gates, GIT, both a Nyrstar employee and an invaluable member of our Advisory Board, for organizing this insightful tour. The past couple of years with Geosyntec Consultants have been truly remarkable. From federal projects to Fortune 500 companies, from the United States to Australia, we have had the opportunity to apply the tools from my doctoral studies to numerous projects. Each project has been a learning experience, and now we know how we can make them even better! Currently, a five-day weather forecast is as reliable as a two-day forecast 25 years ago. The hope is that such forecasts will continue to improve, and with more information, our ability to predict long-term simulation for future climate risks is becoming more reliable.
